Are We Prepared?

Study Questions: I Peter 3:14-16

 

1. In verse 14 of 1 Peter 3, Peter says “if we suffer for righteousness sake, we are blessed” and “do not fear their intimidation and do not be in dread.” Where, in our culture today, do we experience suffering, if any? What situations might we dread or be intimidated by? Where do we see the most opposition to the truth of the gospel? Where is the blessing in all this? See also:2:20-21, and 4:12-14,16

 

2. In verse 15, Peter tells us to always be ready to defend the hope that is in us. What specifically is that hope? Why is it necessary to always be ready? What is the purpose of being ready according to verses 14 and 16?

 

3.1 Corinthians 1:18-29 puts in perspective man's wisdom in comparison to God’s, Why does the world struggle so much with the gospel message? Does this explain much of the opposition? In the area of defending our faith, or apologetics, does this give perspective on what our focus should be? See also Proverbs 9:10

 

4. In the Luke 22 narrative about Peter’s predicted and eventual denial of Christ, (vs 31-34, and 54- 62) What caused such a reversal in Peter’s boldness to identify and stand with Christ? Did this have an impact on Peter’s future ministry? See also Acts 4:7-12, 18-20, Acts 12

 

5. As we see opposition to the gospel increasing throughout culture, what specific actions can we take in our spiritual walk to prepare us to stand for our faith?
