Counseling

The Carpenter's Workshop...a strange name for a counseling center, isn't it? But the name represents the philosophy of the center. You see, we at The Carpenter's Workshop believe that counseling is not simply a way of helping you feel less stressed, anxious or depressed; we believe it is a life-changing experience in which you and your counselor come together to rebuild your life from the ashes of the difficult and painful experiences that you've been through.

When a carpenter builds a house, he does not try to do it all in one day; there is a process of clearing the site, laying a foundation, then erecting a frame, then covering the house with a protective roof and walls. Lastly, the interior of the house is perfected. In the same way, you and your counselor will need time to properly build (or rebuild) your life. For some, a few minor repairs are all that is needed, while others may need to build a life for the first time, from the ground up.

Whenever a new project is undertaken, whether it is a new kitchen or a new house, a carpenter works from a plan, which tells how something is to be built. At The Carpenter's Workshop, the plan we work from is the Holy Bible. We believe that God's Word is the ultimate authority of life.

The Carpenter's Workshop is so named because of our belief that the ultimate success of your rebuilt life will depend not only on the work you do in counseling, but also upon the Good Carpenter, Jesus Christ. While we acknowledge that secular (non-religious) approaches to counseling are often tremendously helpful, it is our belief that Jesus Christ is ultimately the one who can most fully heal your wounded spirit and broken heart.
